Is this product lightweight?
The best way to describe the texture of Buffer Jelly is between a facial oil and a balm… but we not-so-secretly think it’s a little jelly-like. So it’s going to feel a teeny bit heavier than a traditional oil, but much lighter than a balm! Plus, the finish is soft, emollient, and glowy, without feeling greasy, sticky, or thick like traditional slugging ointments.
Is it suitable for oily, acne-prone skin? How about on top of my acne treatments?
Buffer Jelly was created specifically to relieve dry, sensitive, compromised skin, but we kept all skin types in mind when formulating. All ingredients were screened for comedogenicity, but it’s always safe to patch test if you’re unsure!
Because Buffer Jelly is semi-occlusive, it doesn’t completely ‘trap’ actives and enhance penetration/irritation like pure petrolatum. However, everyone’s skin is different so again, we recommend patch testing if you have particularly sensitive skin.
Do I need to use a moisturizer with Buffer Jelly?
Nope! Buffer Jelly can be used directly after application of toners/serums. But you can also DIY a custom moisturizer by mixing it into your fave hydrating serum, like Super Saturated. So experiment freely and get your goo on!

Buffer jelly has been life changing for my dry, easily irritated, rosacea skin. I apply it over top of Super Saturated at night and it never creates the heat trap that happens with heavier night creams and in my opinion it works better than any heavy cream I've ever used. In the morning my skin is calm and smooth and happy.

For 100% transparency, I did receive this product free for an honest review at a later date but I've used it twice and needed to post this review here and now. This stuff is magical! Basically they took a barrier repair serum and a soothing, nourishing face oil and smooshed them together into this little dropper bottle to make a product that feels like someone's grandma crocheted the softest blanket ever just for your face. I really can't properly describe the texture. It does start out as a jelly-like substance that turns into a soft, fluidy oil as soon as it hits the skin. But where most oils seem to have a dryness or a taciness to them that make them feel disgusting while you're massaging them in, Buffer Jelly has a silky slip to it that just feels like heaven. I have rosacea and I've been adding a drop of this to my moisturizer at night and I wake up with super soft skin with no redness, irritation, or clogged pores. I think this will also be perfection for after dermaplaning. I was surprised by how small this bottle is when I first got it but I think it's simply deception due to Experiment using reduced packaging, because this is a full 1oz of product, which for an oil will last a VERY long time. So it's official, I'm an Experiment convert...
