Hydroxycaprylic Acid is the chemical exfoliant that powers Softwear’s smoothing capabilities. This lipophilic (oil loving) AHA has a large molecule size, meaning it has a lower irritation profile than AHAs like glycolic and lactic acid. It helps slough off of dead skin cells removing those dry crusties, revealing soft, smooth lips. Knowing that lip balms are used frequently throughout the day, it’s included at a low, but efficacious level.

I will start by saying that i love the brand. It’s fun and has fantastic ingredients. I use the avant guard mask, super saturated serum and the buffer jelly. Love the balm texture and cushiony feel. Made my lips feel great at first. I started using it several times a day. Then my upper lip became raw and swollen as if it had become over exfoliated, and i got blisters on my lower lip. It took over a week to resolve this and it was extremely painful. Sad to have to bin the rest of my tube. I see all the positive reviews and am sad it didn’t work for me. Customer service promptly refunded my money when i reached out. I’m loyal to the other brand products but this was too good to be true for me.

This really is an excellent lip product. It got rid of my winter crusties after a couple of uses. It's thick enough that it actually stays on your lips, but not so thick it feels gross. I would give 5 stars but it's just not enough product for the price. $16+ shipping for a tiny 10mL tube is painful in this economy, especially because the product is so good. If we got 15-20mL per tube, I'd be a lifetime customer.
